Post 182 starts season off with a bang, wins Memorial Day Classic

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

It was the first inaugural Memorial Day Classic for the host Leesburg Post 182 baseball team and it was only fighting that Leesburg would win it.  Post 182 came into Sunday leading in points after two wins on Saturday.  The team clinched the tournament win after a 9-8 victory over Vero Beach on Sunday afternoon at Darton.

Post 182 suffered its only loss of the tournament to Albany's Post 30 Junior team, 7-4. After winning its 3rd game Leesburg, head coach Larry Cook says it was an excellent way to start the summer.

Cook says "Oh it means a lot it's a good way to start the year. 3-0 now and hopefully we can win the next ball game to but its a great chance to look at some of these young men in a different situations and this is a great weekend for baseball and we're just glad to be here."

The Albany Post 30 swept its games on Sunday after a 10-7 win over Vero Beach and an 11-6 win over the Post 30 Junior team.
