Farmers Market opens downtown

Posted: Updated:

Downtown Albany re-opened their Farmers Market Saturday. People were able to shop at several tables full of produce grown right here in Southwest Georgia.

The event is sponsored by the city of Albany and the Southwest Georgia Community Food Alliance.

Organizers hope the market will bring local dollars to local farmers who picked these vegetables straight from their fields to bring them fresh to you.

"Fresh produce and you get very competitive prices, you can negotiate on what you pay, where as once the sticker is on there at the grocery store, that is a settled deal," says Byron English, Vendor.

The market will be open every Saturday in the parking lot in the 200 block of West Broad Avenue.
