The Lee County Sheriff's Department is now working with the Albany Crime stoppers. The Lee County Sheriff's Department asked to join the Albany Crime-stoppers program. The Sheriff's Department believes it will be a helpful tool in closing some cases.
An East Albany church is warning its neighbors about bold copper thieves.
Last night, leaders at the Albany Full Gospel Tabernacle on Owens Avenue found their air conditioning system had been taken apart.
They say parts from the $10,000 unit were carefully spread around the yard, showing the thieves took their time.
"The way the screws were taken out of the unit and placed in little areas, and stuff like that. So it wasn't, whoever did it, they didn't just come in and rush and do it. They took their time," said Richard Dyson of Albany Full Gospel Tabernacle.
Church officials are working to replace the air conditioner so they don't have to miss any services.
They also warn neighbors to be on the lookout for thieves.
