Albany Boys and Girls Club wants parents to enroll kids

Posted: Updated:

School is out in Dougherty County, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Albany are urging parents to keep their kids off the streets, and away from gangs and crime.

About 600 students are already enrolled in their summer programs at four sites but say they have room for more.

They urge parents not to leave their kids home alone.

"This is an important time, because teenage pregnancy goes up. Teenage crime.  And if kids do not have safe and structured activities to be in, they are going to find something to do.  We don't want that to happen in our community," said Bob Hutchinson, Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany Director of Operations.

The Boys and Girls Clubs have openings for kids 6 to 13.

The cost is $240 for the 8 weeks but they will say they will work with parents in need.

Call 439-0196 for enrollment information.
