A dedicated group of young Albany women made history in a good way recently.
The Monroe High girls track team completed another great season, and for the fourth consecutive year, won the Triple-A track and field championship for the state of Georgia.
This is the first time this feat has ever been accomplished at the Triple-A level.
In an era when so many kids are dropping out of school, or getting in trouble with the law, these young ladies are setting an example for other to follow.
We congratulate: Akeema Miller, Destinee Collins, Alexandria Childs, Mimieux Land, Shameica Carter, Jade Perry, A'Lanesha McFarland, Nardeshia McKinney, Ashley Harrell Chakeriah Fletcher, Head Coach Dr. LaToyia Johnson, and assistant coaches Paul Jones, and Billy Glanton.
You have all made Albany proud, and we salute you.
