For the last six years, Albany native and New England Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch has returned home to put on his annual youth football skills camp but Branch is now branching out his camp at his college alma mater.
The former Monroe high star held his first skills and drills camp at the University of Louisville in Kentucky on Saturday. The camp promotes health, sportsmanship and even scholastic achievement to further a child's education.
Branch said he believes in those same principles and he wants area youth to participate in his annual football camp. And even though he was miles away from home Branch took time out to show South Georgia some love.
Branch said "I've been doing it back at home for seven years and I managed to get everything going where I can work it in my schedule to do it here. I get home every year for about a week. They are very receptive, the city embraces it just like here. The city embraces it, the kids love it. Its always something special when you go back home. I consider Louisville my second home but when I go back to Georgia its crazy, its unbelievable. Trust me you all need to come down and check it out."
Branch plans on having his 7th annual camp this summer in Albany
