Amidst several injuries and missing their kicker the Albany Panthers powered by Alabama 59-40 to improve to 8-1 on the year. The Panthers sprung out of the gate with a 23-9 lead as Cecil Lester connected on passes to lineman Aaron Wheeler and the roster's new addition Antonio Bearden who filled in well for the banged up Clinton Rafe.
The two teams traded scores in the 3rd quarter. The Hammers pulled within 5 but the Panthers' defense once again flexed its muscles while the offense provided the pad on the scoreboard. Towards the end of the game tensions reached its breaking point as a fight broke out between the two teams. Both benches cleared and punches were thrown.
There is no word on any suspensions at this point. Nevertheless, the Panthers stay atop the PIFL at 8-1 and have the week off before hosting Knoxville on June 2nd.
