
Valdosta State completes a long battle through the elimination bracket but the Lady Blazers are NCAA Division II national softball champions.
VSU defeats UC-San Diego 4-2 to win their first ever national softball title.
Courtney Albrittong from Sycamore started the scoring with a solo homerun to lead off the bottom of the 1st inning.
A dropped fly ball plated the Lady Blazers second run of the game in the 4th inning.
The Tritons cut the lead to one run in the 5th but the Lady Blazers added two big insurances runs on a single by Clare Wamsley in the 6th and an error on the play.
Senior Alanna Hadley worked the seventh to finish off the special win after the Tritons beat VSU 7-5 in the first game on Wednesday.
VSU then won four games in the elimination bracket including an 8-2 win Saturday morning over Kutztown to send the Lady Blazers to the championship game.
