Lady Blazers win two more Friday

LOUISVILLE, KY -

Valdosta State is one win away from playing for the NCAA Division II national championship.

The Lady Blazers started Friday by rallying from 3-0 deficit to defeat Southern Connecticut State 6-3.

Morgan Johnson's three run homerun in the 6th put the Lady Blazers in front.

VSU returned to the field in the afternoon and handed Kutztown their first loss of the tournament 3-1.

VSU scored all of their runs in third.

Morgan Johnson squeezed in April Hutchens.

Sam Posey's sacrifice fly scored Courtney Albritton.

Natalia Morozova then singled in the third run of the game.

VSU pitcher Alanna Hadley was able to overcome nine illegal pitch calls to get the win.

Ironically the lone Kutztown run came on a homerun.

One pitch after an illegal pitch negated an inning ending strikeout.

VSU will play Kutztown at 10:00 a.m. Saturday with the winner advancing to the national championship game.
