Bike thief gets a face full of asphalt

A man broke into a Tulsa, Oklahoma bicycle shop and then made what can only be described as a painful escape.

It happened early Wednesday morning.

Surveillance video from the nearby P&P Car Wash showed a man dressed in all black lurking in the parking lot between the car wash and Spoke House Bicycles just before 6 a.m.

After deciding the coast is clear, the man disappears out of the camera's view and shows up in front of the bicycle shop.

The shop's owners say the man used a cinder block to smash the front window.

"He comes in, steals a bike. That only took a minute or two," said Brittany Pfaff, who along with her husband owns Spoke House Bicycles.

But the burglar's escape didn't exactly go according to plan.

Surveillance footage showed the man riding the stolen bicycle in the driveway of the car wash.

The man then rides the bike off a curb and makes a hard landing, sending the man flying over the handle bars and face-first on to the pavement.

After picking himself up, the burglar ties to fix the bike for a moment but gives up and walks away with the bike.

"Of course we're mad but after we saw this surveillance, I mean part of you is like 'That's what you get. That's what happens,'" said Pfaff. "I mean that's karma for you."

The owners of the bicycle shop plan to upgrade their security so this doesn't happen again.
