FITZGERALD, GA (WALB) -

The man so nice they named him twice will perform next week on the finale of American Idol. Phillip Phillips is the only contestant, to not be in the bottom two throughout the whole season.

We talked to people out and about Friday morning who were excited about Phillip making the finale'.

More than 17 million people watched last night's episode according to Tvguide.com.

Ryan Seacrest kept us waiting for 50 minutes, on the edge of our seats, until the final two were announced. Last night, the show did a recap of the hometown celebrations and previous performances of Jessica Sanchez, Phillip Phillips and Joshua Ledet.

Sanchez was the first to make it through. Then Joshua and Phillip stood side by side to hear the results.

"I was very surprised and happy he made it to the finale'," said Phillip Phillips Fan Timothy Henderson.

"I was glad I voted for him several times," said Phillip Phillips fan Jeremy Baer.

I never thought he would've made it this far, but I'm glad he did," said Jennifer Harvey. "I knew he'd always go somewhere but not on this level," she said.

American Idol Judge Steven Tyler said Jessica Sanchez would be in the finale' and win the contest. But online polls have Phillip taking the title.

So who wins? We'll find out next week.

Their final performances is on Tuesday. At the end of the show is when voting lines will open. Make sure you stay connected to walb.com for up to the minute results.
