The trial for two sisters charged with illegally having their mother committed to a mental facility will resume in two weeks.

A jury was selected Monday, but testimony will not begin until May 29.

Judge Denise Marshall decided to wait for the return of Chief Magistrate Judge Baxter Howell to begin testimony in the case.

Carrie Franklin and Connie Justice are charged with malicious confinement of sane person and false swearing.

Prosecutors say last September they had their mother, Jean Sancken, confined in the mental ward at Phoebe Putney Hospital, because she was having the sisters and their families evicted from her home.

Sancken had gone to Judge Howell for the eviction.
