For the second time in three years the Valdosta State softball team is heading to the Division II National Championships and Natalia Morozova is a big reason why. Morozova sent a two run blast over the fence in right center which eventually proved to be the game winner in the NCAA South Super Regional final against Florida Southern on Saturday.
2-1 was the final score in a game that came no less then 24 hours after Morozova came up with an RBI double in the 16th inning to win game one of the series. Pitcher Alanna Hadley put together seven more innings for her 12th shutout of the season. She gave up six hits, walked one and struck out two while forcing Florida Southern to hit into grounders and pop ups for most of the day.
Valdosta State will leave for Louisville, KY on Monday morning to compete in the National Tournament at the NCAA DII National Championship Festival to be held May 15-19. The Blazers will play their first game of the tournament at 12:30 p.m.
