I'm interested in starting a business. Where can I seek possible grants to help get started?

Q: A couple of friends and myself are interested in starting a small business. Our question is, can you advise us as to where to seek possible grants to help us get started?

A: There are a couple of options for you. First, take a look at the U.S. Small Business Administration's website at http://www.sba.gov/. They have a section dedicated specifically to loans and grants, and while the SBA doesn't directly offer loans to small businesses, they do provide different resources and opportunities for finding funding. For instance, there's a "search tool" that allows you to identify what programs might be available to help you, and there's even tips on how to write a business plan.

Additionally, take a look at http://business.usa.gov/. This site can help you no matter what stage of business development you may be in at the moment. In the FAQ section, it provides a list of numerous other resources you might find helpful.
