The road to recovery still a long one ahead for a Harvest family that lost two loved ones from the April 27 tornadoes.
Misty Cornwell held a memorial Saturday afternoon to remember her 15-year-old daughter, Katie, and her father, Harold Fitzgerald, who were both killed by the storm one year ago.
A tornado left their neighborhood on Orville Smith Road unrecognizable.
"Nothing looks the same. Everything is different. Everything is so open, you never could see anything," said Misty's mom, Cheryl Smith.
Smith lost her husband, Harold, whom she calls Butch. She also lost her 15-year-old granddaughter Katie.
"A year ago yesterday, my whole world changed. Life as I knew it. My life is totally different now," Smith said.
The tornado leveled her house and her daughter Misty's home, just next door.
The home's original deck was the only one thing standing in the aftermath.
"My husband built me this about nine years ago. And for some reason, this stood," Smith said.
Smith said she stays strong for her daughter Misty and her great grandchildren.
"If I didn't have them and I knew I had to get up every single morning and go to work, I probably wouldn't get out of bed some days," Smith said.
In the backyard, two wooden crosses stand on a grassy field to honor Katie and Butch.
