OCILLA, GA (WALB) -

Tifton Police have clarified some details surrounding the arrest of Irwin County Middle School principal Dennis Proctor Tuesday night.

He was arrested for prowling and solicitation of sodomy. Police say Proctor was soliciting an adult male. No children were involved in the case

Irwin County Schools Superintendent Bobby Conner says Proctor is currently on paid leave. The school system is gathering as many available details on the case and will make decisions after that.

Superintendent Conner says he met with the middle school students Thursday morning to assure them that school will go on. He wants to assure the parents that the school system's primary concern is the safety and education of the students.

Since then, 66-year-old Thomas Benefield, 68-year-old James Holton Jr., and 74-year-old Billy Rowe Wood have all been arrested for solicitation of sodomy as well.

Proctor was booked into the Tift County Jail and bonded out a few hours later.

Proctor told us on the phone he had no comment, other than to say he did not solicit a child.

Tifton Police say the solicitation happened near Fulwood Park. They had received complaints of that activity in the area. Police say it is safe to go to the park.
