
Two World Financial Tower (right) was evacuated after a suspicious package was detected Thursday (Source: Bosc d'Anjou/flickr)(RNN) - An all-clear has been issued at a building in lower Manhattan that was evacuated because of suspicious package.
The evacuation at Two World Financial Center took place after a package containing a novelty hand grenade came through the mailroom, according to CNN.
People were ordered to leave the building around 11 a.m. ET. It took seven minutes to clear everyone out.
The bomb squad examined the package, after the package was X-rayed and screened by employees in the mailroom.
Screeners reportedly saw a device that was shaped like a hand grenade. CNN reported authorities have not released whether the package was addressed to a particular person.
Two World Financial Center is home to financial institutions such as Merrill Lynch, Nomura Securities, Deloitte, Commerzbank and OppenheimerFunds Inc.
Located in lower Manhattan, it encompasses more than 8 million square feet, has 44 floors and 2,671 office spaces.
