Try the Mars Rover simulation

March 22, 2004

Undated-- Do you want to drive a rover on Mars?

NASA's "M2K4" website has launched an interactive program that lets visitors simulate driving a mars rover across the surface of the red planet.

The site is loaded with animation and interactive possibilities. Officials say it gives the visitors the experience of exploring the GUSEV crater and Meridiani Planum without having to make the 300-million mile trek. Scientists think the gusev crater might be a dried-up lakebed.

You can choose the Spirit or the Opportunity. Each option lets you explore and learn more about the surface and the mission.
