The Turner County EMS director has been fired. County commissioners voted Friday to fire Randall Whiddon.
He worked for the county for 33-years most recently as EMS and EMA director and head of the volunteer fire department.
Whiddon ran unsuccessfully for sheriff last year.
In July 2008 Whiddon was arrested and charged with simple assault after an argument with the father of the former EMA Director.
County officials say his firing was not related to that incident but they will not say why he was let go.
The assistant EMA director is fulfilling his former duties.
