Albany's mayor helped some young Dougherty County students learn about Black History.
Mayor Dorothy Hubbard took part in a Black History Month celebration with pre-k students at Sylvandale Academy.
The students dressed up to depict different periods of time and danced and sang songs. All to learn about the struggles and successes of African Americans who came before them.
"The hard times that they think they are having are the same kinds of things that others have gone through before them, it teaches them to be determined, to have strength to persevere, and have the attitude of if others can do it, I can do it," says Mayor Dorothy Hubbard, Semper Fidelis Program Committee Chair.
The Semper Fidelis program provided the students with black history coloring books and crayons to help them learn about prominent African American leaders.
