ALBANY, GA -

An Albany man threw more than a pound of marijuana out his car window while being chased by Dougherty County Police this morning.

Investigators say about 11:30 a.m., 31-year-old Walter Chatman Junior drove away after an officer stopped him.

After a chase on MLK Junior Drive. Chatman stopped at Neuman Place and ran. Officers caught him quickly.

They recovered a bag they say Chatman tossed from the car.

It contained more than a pound of marijuana with a street value of about $5, 000.

"They were all packaged up in individual bags so they could move and maybe buy multiples.  So this is definitely a seller.  A street dealer," said Major Bill Berry, ADDU Commander

The Albany Dougherty Drug Unit continues to investigate.

Chatman is in the Dougherty County Jail charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and attempting to elude.
