CRCT Evidence Arrives in Albany

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, GA -

Evidence from the state's investigation into CRCT cheating in the Dougherty County Schools has arrived at the D.A.'s office.

District Attorney Greg Edwards said his office is expected to receive 3,000 pages of evidence. This week they received several discs from state investigators, though four of the discs were blank. The state is working to resend that information.

It's now clear the school system will have to wait until the DA examines the evidence before they'll get a look.

"We won't see it, at least the school system won't see it our lawyers won't see it until the District Attorney gets through and releases that information," said Tommy Coleman, DCSS Attorney.

That puts more pressure on the school system to make decisions about offering contracts to employees involved in the CRCT investigation before May 15th.

Administrators don't receive tenure, so when their contracts expire at the end of the year, they don't have to be renewed. Tenured employees must receive a hearing if a contract is not offered.
