ALBANY, GA -

Eighth graders at Robert Cross Magnet School received a live Georgia Studies lesson this morning, and their teacher was Mayor Dorothy Hubbard.

Students have been covering local and state government for three weeks. They learned about how local government is run, and how state government is set up.

Mayor Hubbard encouraged students to get a good education, telling them how cool it is to stay in school.

"I think it's good for the young people to see what they're actually learning about. I'm the person who is actually doing what they read about it."

Mayor Hubbard also asked students to become a part of her "Make Albany Beautiful Campaign."

She wants to students to help keep their communities clean.
