ALBANY, GA -

Local leaders met with State officials and talked about the possibility of several Georgia bases closings.

The Georgia Military Affairs Coordinating Committee met last Thursday and Friday and the possibility of BRAC was mentioned.

Congress could reconvene The Base Realignment and Closure Commission to help come up with $487 billion in military spending cuts over the next decade and the Marine Corps Logistics Base may very well be on the list of consolidated bases.

Local officials say they are prepared whether BRAC reconvene or not.

"Whether there's a BRAC or not a BRAC, GMACC will continue to do the things they're suppose to do enhance the efficiency of those bases and do the things we can as communities that those bases need us to do for those very purposes," said Dougherty Co. Commission Chairman Jeff Sinyard.

Chairman Sinyard says he doubts that BRAC will reconvene especially in an election year.
