Albany man runs over teenager with car

ALBANY, GA -

20-year-old Dionte Nelson is behind bars Monday morning at the Dougherty County Jail. He is charged with Aggravated Assault, Robbery by Force and Aggravated Battery.

Dougherty County Police responded to 1100 University Drive because someone was hit by a car. After arriving, they found 18-year-old Michael Ross Jr. lying in the road.

Witnesses at the scene told police Nelson, who was driving a white Charger, chased Ross on foot around the house. At some point, police say Ross got tired of running and that's when Nelson hit him with his car.

Witnesses go on to say that while Ross was lying in the street injured, Nelson got out his car and went through the his pockets. Ross was transported to Phoebe Putney Hospital.

Nelson was arrested in the 6500 block of Gillionville Road.
