SCOTTSDALE, AZ (WALB) - Lee County's Buster Posey is for spring training to begin with the San Francisco Giants on Sunday.
The former National League rookie of the year is ready to get back on the field after having his 2011 season cut short by a broken leg and torn ankle ligaments last May.
Posey has been working hard over the last night months.
He says he is anxious to play in the first spring training game.
While that likely won't happen, Buster tells ESPN he believes he is on track to be in the lineup opening day.
Buster Posey said. "When it happened I think it is going to give me enough time to be ready for opening day. If it had been later in the season, it might have been more questionable but I am pretty optimistic for opening day."
The Giants open the 2012 MLB season on April 6th.
