ABAC plants tree for Georgia Arbor Day

Posted: Updated:

Friday is Georgia Arbor day.

ABAC in Tifton planted a new tree for the occasion.

They say forestry and horticulture students will study it.

It's also part of a bigger movement to get more trees on college campuses around the country.

"We have planted a tree in kickoff of our celebration of Tree Campus USA which is a program sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation," said Associate Professor Lorie Felton.

They planted a Nuttall oak tree that is good for Georgia's climate.

They say they wanted to use it because they didn't have one on campus for students to study.
