A lot of Albany families are eating sweet potatoes. 4,000 pounds were handed out Tuesday.
Check out this huge pile of sweet potatoes brought in from North Carolina overnight.
Farmers donated them to the Society of Saint Andrew to help feed the hungry.
People were invited to take as many free sweet potatoes as they could use.
The organization does a giveaway like this several times a year in Georgia.
"We have growers and farmers around the country that will donate a load of potatoes and loose produce," said Janet Sack with the Society of Saint Andrew. "We bring it to an empty parking lot and drop it. Usually church organizations will come and back the produce."
They also invited local food banks to take some of the potatoes so they could distribute them to people in need.
