THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - A suspicious fire, an attack on a neighbor, a woman accused of trying to run down her husband in her car, and maybe a meth lab.
Investigators in Thomas County are trying to piece together one wild night that landed a husband and wife in jail.
That investigation started when firefighters were called to a mobile home fire on Ganyard road early Monday.
The fire broke out at the rented mobile home around five o'clock Monday morning. "The structure burned completely to the ground. It was a hot fire and it burned quickly," Thomas County Sheriff's Captain Steve Jones.
The couple who lived in the home, 24-year old Christopher Hale and 29-year Jamie Hale, were each arrested on aggravated assault charges. "He was arrested shortly after the fire. Investigators got on the scene and began figuring out pieces of the incident. She was brought in for questioning as well and has since been charged," said Jones.
Police say both aggravated assaults were committed prior to the fire. Mr. Hale is accused of attacking a neighbor. "Christopher Hale also broke into a neighbor's house for an unknown reason. Not sure why he broke in. Busted out a window. Actually cut the homeowners head with a piece of glass," said Jones.
Police accuse Jamie Hale of trying to assault her husband. "At some point during the night, she tried to run over Christopher with a car. Chased him around the property, through a fence and into some woods," said Jones.
The narcotics division is investigating whether the fire started from a meth lab blowing up. "It's going to be real interesting when all of the pieces come out," said Jones.
The state fire marshal's office, the Thomas County Sheriff's Office, and Thomas County Children and Family services will continue investigating the fire.
Christopher and Jamie Hale were arraigned Tuesday and they were both denied bond.
