Two East Albany Nail Salons were broken into and burglarized early Friday morning, continuing a string of smash and grab breakins in that area.
The front door at Julie's Nail and Spa on Sylvester Road was shattered about 2:00 AM. A little more than an hour later someone busted the front door glass at Nail Tips, just across East Oglethorpe Avenue from the other salon.
The thief took money and the business credit card machine.
At Julie's, the thief took 12 professional nail manicure tools that belonged to the shop employees. They cost about $150 each.
Owner Julie Nguyen said what the thief took is so strange, she wondered if someone targeted her employee's tools, to keep them from working.
"Whoever is doing this to us, it's the wrong thing to do. And you want us to stop working. No, we're not going to stop working. We still working. We're going to survive, with what you did to us. All of us out here," Nguyen said.
Both businesses had burglar alarms that sounded. Julie said it would cost more than 300 dollars to repair the shattered glass in her door.
