AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Georgia Southwestern is looking to get out of the cellar in the Peach Belt Conference's western division this weekend.
The Hurricanes are in last place because they have had to play five of their first seven conference games on the road.
The Canes will play six of their next seven games at the Storm Dome where they are undefeated this season.
The bad news is GSW has lost all-American forward Phillip Brown for the season with a knee injury but coach Mike Leeder says this team still has the talent to repeat.
Mike Leeder said. "I think we are certainly talented enough. I told our guys the other day I have got to do a better job of coaching them to get them in the right spots and we have got to make sure they are playing a little bit better."
Senior guard Evan Mobley said. "The crowds have been pleased with our effort. Even if we don't win, the crowds have been pleased with our overall effort. The crowd gives us a lot of energy and we feed off that very well. That is what gets us victories here."
Georgia Southwestern hosts Francis Marion on Saturday and UNC-Pembroke on Sunday.
