Friends and co-workers are planning fundraisers to help a Crisp County Deputy who's battling cancer.
34-year old Sgt. Michael Sangster is the training officer for the Crisp County Sheriff's Office and is well-known for his work in the community.
That's him with his 3-year old son Caleb. Sangster had a kidney removed during his treatment.
People in the community are planning a motorcycle ride a bass fishing tournament and a pork chop dinner to help him with mounting expenses.
"You don't only have medical bills, but you have a lot of other expense. Traveling, eating, and your family. Somebody taking care of you. There is a lot there," Sheriff Donnie Haralson, Crisp County.
Sgt. Sangster is currently on medical leave. If you'd like to donate to help call the Sheriff's Office at 276-2600 and ask for Cathy.
There will be a pork chop plate event Saturday, February 11 at the Crisp County Sheriff's Office from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. The plates will be $7 per plate. For more information call 229-276-2600
The benefit motorcycle ride will be Saturday, February 11 at the Crisp County Sheriff's Office. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the kick stand up will start at 10 a.m. The cost of this event will be $10 dollars per bike and $5 dollars per additional biker.
