Storm damage rips through Macon County

Posted: Updated:
MACON COUNTY, GA -

It was a disheartening scene where the remains of a home in the rural area of Macon county sends a reminder of the severity of last night's storm. Where one still warm Saturday quickly transforms to one of fear.

Shaketa Hill says, "It was a windy day looking normal outside and then in a matter of seconds it was like man this looks crazy."

The sky became quiet causing an eerie change.

Shaketa Hill says, "It just got really still, and my sister called me saying we heard a tornado being spotted at Marshallville."

Witnesses claim to have seen a large black cloud forming over their heads forming what looked like a tornado. Shaketa Hill was driving down Highway 49 with her 3 sons when the cloud passed over them.

"It was like getting lower and lower and kept expanding and then there was lightning coming down the center and it was like a dark world."

And a  few miles down the road she saw first hand the destruction.

"By the time we get down the road and down here this is what we saw. It was bad and it was scary, I panicked and I'm screaming, and was scared."

Roof ripped off,  trees uprooted, and an entire barn collapsed. A barn that has stood on the land for as long as Hill and onlookers can remember.

"This big shed that had been here for years that held all kinds of heavy machinery, and this house has been here for years," says Hill.

And this house almost ripped to the skeleton of its frame.
