After a down year in 2011, Ag experts expect South Georgia farmers to plant more peanuts this year.
Last year, many farmers planted more cotton to take advantage of higher prices.
This year, peanut prices are up which should lead to more peanut acreage.
Though growers are concerned by the already dry conditions.
"It's usually in the summer. So some of the things we are talking about, how you can manage your risks. Looking at the contracts and covering yourself with insurance type things," said Dr. Nathan Smith\UGA Extension Service Ag Economist
Last year, Georgia farmers planted the lowest number of peanut acres in 30 years.
