Sell gold and help animals

Posted: Updated:
Valdosta, Georgia -

You can sell your gold and silver jewelry in Valdosta to help an animal in need.

The Barc Humane Society has a fundraiser Saturday where you can donate to the their cause or adopt a furry friend.

Puppies like this one are up for adoption.

"He's about five weeks old and he will be ready for adoption about three more weeks," said volunteer Debbie Rumker. "He's an American Bull mix one of six."

If you can't make a commitment to adopt, you can be a sponsor or a foster parent.

Foster parent Genna Williams has looked after Zoey the Shih tzu since Christmas Eve.

"I would adopt her myself but I'm going off to college and she really needs a loving home," said Williams. "She's a perfect dog, really sweet. All she wants you do is love her."

Cash to Gold's Bill Hamlett says while a lot of people don't have spare cash they do have jewelry lying around that they'll buy.

"We'll be glad to see what karat it is, tell you what it's worth and then you can make a decision at that time if you want to donate to Barc," said Hamlett.

With your donation, a rescue pet may find a forever home.

Barc Humane Society saves animals from kill shelters.

The group also provides medical attention to the rescued pets.

You can sell anything gold or silver including rings, bracelets, chains, coins, tea sets, sterling silver, silverware, class rings, pendants, earrings, and even gold teeth.

The event is one to six p.m. at the Best Western on North Valdosta Road. There's also giveaways for free grooming, a night's stay at the hotel and pet photos.
