An unusual approach to a medical crisis.
A Valdosta man is using Craig's List and Facebook to find a kidney donor.
42-year old David Armond has a genetic kidney disease and has been on dialysis for nearly five years.
He desperately needs a transplant. Armond was diagnosed with a genetic kidney disease in his 20s.
"It's been slowly going down," said Armond. "When I turned 38, it shut down and they put me on dialysis and I've been on the list ever since waiting for a kidney."
His partner Billy Ryan is a pianist and they've had fundraisers in the past. They've also posted the need for kidney on Facebook.
He posted an ad on Craig's List last year but didn't get any responses. Now he's trying it again after he heard of another man who found a potential donor on the site.
"He really wants to work and would love to be doing things," said Billy Ryan, Armond's partner.
"You're attached to a machine," said Armond. "If you don't stay on the dialysis, you're not going to live."
He says anything would help including money to help pay for medicine to keep his new kidney alive.
If he doesn't find a match, he at least hopes to encourage others to consider being a donor.
