ALBANY, GA -
Albany State is getting set to kick off their 2012 T. Marshall Jones concert series.
Next week, Imani Winds will be at the college to put on a performance.
It is a group of five African American orchestra players.
Leroy Bynum, the Dean of the ASU College of Art, says they have a different sound with a mix of classical music and jazz. He says they are a unique group.
"It's very unique that women plays woodwind instruments of this nature, bassoons, oboes," said Bynum. "There are some women that do that, but as in the orchestras, you see very few normally."
The concert is on Tuesday, January 17th at seven-thirty. The group will also be at ASU earlier in the day to talk to a music class and critique their work.
