The state is making it more difficult, and costly to enjoy state wildlife management areas.
You must now buy a Georgia Outdoor Recreation Pass to visit Georgia's 32 wildlife areas, including the popular gun range at the Chickasawhatchee Wildlife Management Area.
In the past you only needed a pass to hunt or fish there.
Now hikers, bikers, and bird watchers ages 16 to 64 must buy a pass.
And you can't get one on site. You have to buy it in advance.
Georgia DNR Wildlife Biologist Julie Robbins said "Right now we're educating the folks that show up at these facilities without those passes and letting them know that they must purchase those to use those facilities."
An individual pass costs $3. 50 for three days or $19 for an annual pass.
You can buy them online, over the phone, or at any store that sells hunting and fishing licenses.
