EARLY COUNTY, GA -
Jerome Milton is recuperating after he was shot multiple times Friday at his home.
"I heard somebody coming in the window, and as soon as I opened the blinds to see what was going on," says Jerome Milton, Shooting Victim.
It was around 7 a.m. when He saw Xavier Ofton trying to break through the kitchen window with a gun. There was little time to react when Ofton began firing rounds.
"He started shooting me, it hit me in the chest and came out, then it hit me in the arm, I ran back to the room and tried to get my wife's sister up and get her out of the house, and when I was going to the door to run out, he hit me in the butt, and then he hit me in the leg," says Milton.
He says he was shot four times before he was able to get out of the house.
Ofton broke inside and grabbed Milton's sister in law, Patrice Collins, his ex-girlfriend and forced her outside.
"He grabbed her by her hair out of the bedroom and forced her by gunpoint into the car and had her drive off," says Randall Meeks, Early County Sheriff's Investigator.
The two were gone for nearly 2 hours, amazingly Collins wasn't hurt and Ofton made her drive him back into Blakely, where she dropped him off.
"He ain't got nothing to lose, he is already facing time, and his own mother told me out of her mouth that he was going to take out as many people as he can," says Kandice Collins, Victim's Wife.
He was arrested around 3:30 Friday afternoon and is facing a list of charges.
"Burglary for breaking in the residence, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and kidnapping," says Meeks.
With 4 gunshot wounds and frightening kidnapping, this family is just surprised no one ended up dead.
