A tragedy on a south Georgia highway Friday. A south Georgia truck driver was in jail Friday night after causing a crash that killed a toddler and that little girl's father and seriously injured her mother.
42 year-old Charles Tyrone Sowell and 2 year-old Autumn Sowell were killed in the crash that happened in Ben Hill County about 3:00 p.m. 34 year-old Catrina Sowell was airlifted to Macon Medical Center with critical injuries.
The family from Valdosta was driving on Highway 129 between Fitzgerald and Ocilla. 59 year-old truck driver Kenneth Walsh was on his way to pick up a load of lumber.
Troopers say Walsh tried to pass a line of at least three cars in a no-passing zone in a curve and slammed head-on into the Sowell's Toyota Camry.
He's charged with two counts of vehicular homicide, one count of serious injury by vehicle, passing in a no-passing zone, and reckless driving.
