Woman dies after dog attack

LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) -

A woman was killed after she was mauled by a pit bull in Lowndes County Thursday.

Neighbors say the pit bull mix attacked 40-year-old Misti Wyno when she walked to a neighbor's house on Mt. Zion Rd. to get some grits about one Thursday afternoon.

She was taken to hospital with bites on her arms, head, and legs. She died about an hour later.

One neighbor says the dog has caused problems before. "I called animal control three times about this dog supposedly the one that attacked the lady and they've been out here numerous times over the last three years about these pit bull dogs. There's three houses in a row with pit bull dogs," said Jimmy Watkins.

We knocked on the door at the property where the attacked happened, but no one answered.

Wyno's body is being sent for an autopsy. The dog was euthanized.
