BARWICK, GA (WALB) - A Thomas County shooting victim remains in serious condition Monday as Sheriff's investigators continue to search for his attackers.

Deputies say two men in black ski masks tried to force their way into Derrick Herring's Kendrick Street home in Barwick Friday. Herring pushed his way past the men and ran to Westside drive.

But one of the intruders fired shots striking Herring in the side and leg. "Derrick Herring, a 35-year old Barwick resident, appeared to have been shot twice. He was taken to Archbold Hospital for treatment and has undergone surgery there I understand and is still in serious condition," said Captain Steve Jones.

Investigators recovered shell casings from the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Investigators do not have any suspects, but if you know anything about the case, they want you to call them at 225-3315.
