The city of Baconton was buzzing Saturday as it hosted the 36th Annual Pecan Harvest Festival
Hundreds gathered to socialize and learn the history of Baconton and why they call themselves the Pecan Capital.
Special Guest Grand Marshall Dr. Frank Bacon, grandson of the man who founded the city, came from New Mexico to meet its residents. Vendors lined the festival as well as live music, all in the name of this popular nut.
Elizabeth Williams, an event coordinator says, " We just have a little festival to keep the heritage going to let everybody know who the original pecan growers."
A parade was held in the festival's honor earlier today.
