ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Panthers may be in a new league but the goal has not changed for the 2011 Southern Indoor Football League champions.

Though the strength of the Panthers may change to offense this year.

The Albany Panthers re-signed seven players from last year's team on Tuesday.

They included the heart of the offense with quarterback Cecil Lester and his favorite receivers Antwone Savage, Antwontis Cutts and John Harris.

Fullback Derrick Wimbush is also coming back along with linebacker Larry Edwards and defensive back Lewis Johnson.

The Panthers are among five SIFL teams that will play in the newly formed Professional Indoor Football League.

The Panthers return much of the offense. The defense has lost several players including to Demetrie McCray to the Arena Football League.

That has the offense ready to lead the Panthers to another championship.

Quarterback Cecil Lester said. "We have some veteran guys at receiver with Savage, Cutts, John Harris any myself throwing the ball to them. We are okay with that pressure."

Receiver Antwontis Cutts said. "There is nothing like coming back to defend your championship. I was honored to come back."

The Panthers will open the 2012 PIFL season at home March 17th against Richmond.
