A Lowndes County man is behind bars after deputies uncovered nearly half a million dollars of marijuana.
Logistics play a big part in South Georgia's economy.
At Darton College, Southwest Georgia business leaders came together to talk about the importance of global Logistics.
One discussed focused on connecting the ports of Savannah with the inland ports of Cordele.
If connected, officials say the ports will beneficial to the entire Southwest region.
"Well some of the benefits will be, eventually, added jobs and it will provide opportunities to export and take advantage of the export business," said Darton Executive Dean of Global Education Ulf Kirchdorfer.
The theory is that supply and consumer cost will be driven down as a result of global logistics.
