An Albany Church youth group, that went to Haiti to help an orphanage last year, is now asking that the orphanage be shut down.

These are pictures of First United Methodist Church members visiting the Son of God Orphanage in Carrefour, Haiti.

American church groups that have helped the orphanage are asking the Haitian government to close it, saying that the operating family has sold the aid for money, and abused the children.

First United Methodist of Albany Youth Minister Joel Diaz said "Haiti is a very poor country. So you give people resources and you have unfortunately people that are going to abuse it. Even while invoking the name of God."

Several church organizations that have given aid to the Son of God Orphanage have started an online petition campaign urging the Haitian government to shut down the facility to protect the children.

If you would like to lend your name to that campaign, link to it here.
