SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
Last-minute efforts to spare Troy Davis's life continue hours before he is scheduled to be executed.
Davis was found guilty in a Chatham County courtroom for killing officer Mark MacPhail 22 years ago.
The Georgia Board of Pardons and Parole denied the request to reconsider its decision to deny Troy Davis clemency. Davis was denied clemency on Tuesday.
Davis supporters are running out of time and options but not giving up. His attorneys are trying all of their legal options, including wanting their client to take a lie detector test, which was denied.
Two requests were made by Davis's attorneys on Wednesday morning.
A request was made to Georgia prison officials to allow Davis to take a polygraph test to prove his innocence.
Davis has always claimed he didn't shoot MacPhail in 1989, but prison officials denied him the test.
Another defense attorney also filed a last-minute appeal on Wednesday morning in Butts County Superior Court, claiming the ballistic testing that linked Davis to the shooting was flawed.
There is no word yet on that appeal.
On Wednesday morning, several Davis supporters were at the Chatham County courthouse. They dropped off petitions to the Chatham County District Attorney's Office that they hope will save Davis's life.
Some say they hold District Attorney Larry Chisolm accountable for whether Davis lives or dies.
"He can do something. If there's some technicality or something, we just need to get around it. He has the ultimate decision as to whether or not Troy Davis will be executed and we want him to make the right decision," said Davis supporter Alicia Blakely.
But on Tuesday night, Chisholm made it clear that he cannot do anything to stop the execution.
After dropping off those petitions, supporters loaded a bus headed for Jackson, Ga.
Davis is scheduled to be executed at 7 p.m. at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson, Ga.
WTOC is in Jackson and will have live reports on THE News.
