They left from the International Longshoreman's Hall just about after 12 p.m. They are going to Atlanta for an NAACP march and prayer service.

Davis is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection on Sept. 21 for the 1989 death of Savannah police officer Mark MacPhail. His clemency hearing is set for Sept. 19.

On Thursday, thousands of petitions to save Davis were taken to the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles.

The NAACP and Amnesty International helped collect signature and then hand delivered them. They say Davis could be innocent.

WTOC's Don Logana spoke with those supporters as they boarded the buses. Hear more on THE news.
