Troy Anthony Davis is scheduled to be executed on Sept. 21.
The date was set by Commissioner Brian Owens. The execution is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson.
The Chatham County Superior Court had ordered the execution to be carried out by the Georgia Dept. of Corrections between Sept. 21 and Sept. 28.
The Parole Board has set the appointment for Davis's representatives for 9 a.m. Sept 19. This would be their opportunity to request clemency.
Davis was convicted in 1991 for the 1989 fatal shooting of Savannah police officer Mark McPhail. If Davis is executed, he will be the 29th inmate put to death by lethal injection, according to the Georgia Dept. of Corrections.
