Attention parents:  The first day of school is soon, and you need to have your students at school on the first day.

The Dougherty County School System first day is August 1st.

The system launched a campaign this year to encourage parents to have their students enrolled and in their seats on the first day of school, not the 2nd, not the 7th, or any time after that.

Recent history in Dougherty County shows only 75% of students show up for the first day of school and many miss the entire first week.

When this happens, the stragglers fall behind and disrupt class for those there from day one.

Parents, in all school systems, take it upon yourselves to find out when school starts for your students.

Make the start of this school year positive for your child and for all students.
